I WON AN IPOD!
Published 1 year, 10 months ago in Making News.I’m so delighted to have won an iPod - I never win anything! (I know that sounds like a cliche, but it’s true.)
I initially signed-up to Nook because of the iPod competition after reading about it in the paper. I wanted to see if I could win one of the iPods for my wife, who has wanted one for ages but we can’t afford one.
Now, thanks to Nook, I am one of the lucky winners and will be able to treat my wife to a lovely surprise very shortly! I won’t tell her about the win until I have the iPod in hand to give to her.
Thank you, Nook - you’ve truly made my week!
And the best part is, since signing up and having a mosey on through the writings of other Nook ‘residents’, I’ve found myself quite enjoying the whole Nook experience! So the iPod may have lured me here, but I’ll be sticking around anyway.
Paul Robinson.

Yes dear “neighbour”, you did. You were one of the first five. Welcome to nook.
Congratulations! I have to say i can’t help but feel a little jealous. I never win anything either… and the story continues! Mind you I hardly ever play games, but I really really would like an ipod. well another 3 chances I guess!
Nice one too for offering it to your wife. Good move I’m sure she’ll be thrilled.
I also joined for the pod, but find the website an intereting concept ( i don’t generally talk to “stranger”), so i’ll be sticking around for the experience too.
Again congratulations!
no worries sport, you really respond like the average joe blow who has won an ipod, sounds more like insider nook to me.
Hey there Neighbour,
I too won an iPod and like you have never won anything much so I am thrilled and delighted as well!
Not being much of a computer person I was lured to Nook by the chance of winning but will definately be sticking around! I am at home with two small kiddies all day and quite often feel left out of the world - Nook makes me feel like part of a community again!!
Hooray for Nook!
Hooray for ipod!
Hoorah and Hazaar!
Golden1
I saw the ad in the paper too and that is why I joined.
I also took the opportunity to ask my question about movies in the same city as I am but no replies.
As usual channel seven and nine were running late and I missed the end of two movies The story of Little Richard and another movie called goodbye lover both with the end missing due to the channel running late as usual and no one has given me an answer yet.
Congratulations Paul! I hope your wife enjoys her new toy.
Congratulations dude!
i think u deserve ipod for your username and avatar.. i laugh every time i see it.. what inspired u ? or is paul robinson inspired on your life u capitalist erinsborough takeover predator (with a heart for the izzies of this world)
Congrats Paul and golden1, I hope you both enjoy your prize
Thank you all. I think the “yeah right” comment was written by a sarcastic “doubting Thomas” who is accusing me of being a “Nook insider” … I’m not certain because the comment was brief and is ambiguous. If that’s what they’re saying, that’s their problem.
I’m not a Nook insider … I just happened to be one of the first five Nookies who were randomly drawn. Maybe if the commenter has their own Nook account, they’ll win an iPod in the coming weeks. If that happens, good luck to them. Hopefully they won’t be accused of being dodgy. I’m sure they wouldn’t like it.
Looks like I’m not allowed to be ’sold’ on Nook and be singing its praises after winning an iPod. Surely that’s the precise time someone would be singing its praises?
I won’t waste any more time being annoyed by that anonymous (cowardly?) person. If they meant their comment another way, it wasn’t clear.
But to the others who left a polite comment, thank you. I wish you all luck for the next three draws.
Nyna, I know what you mean about how TV stations are always running over the hour or half-hour end times. It’s a selfish, stupid ploy to keep viewers watching their own channels (because then they’ve missed the start of shows on the other networks), and it’s gotten out of hand now. It needs to stop. I didn’t see the two shows you’re talking about, so I can’t help you with your questions.
Congratulations to Golden1 on winning another of these first five iPods!
I’m very excited and look forward to getting my hands on the thing. I’ll let you all know how the ‘presentation moment’ with my wife goes!
Cheers!
Thanks again for your comments, everyone.
BenBarren, my wife and I love “Neighbours” (for its faults as much as anything!), and Paul Robinson is the best character they’ve ever had on the show. Just brilliant.
Actor Stefan Dennis is one of the best actors they’ve had as well, so I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by (when I thought of the idea) to name my Nook site after him.
I figured … if ‘Nook’ is based on our neighbourhoods, I might as well admit to loving the show “Neighbours” … and then that thought led to me calling myself Paul Robinson. Then the whole theme just seemed to ‘click’.
(I’m not really a capitalist corporate takeover predator … although I’ll fight dirty in an arm-wrestle with my grandmother if there are doughnuts at stake!!)
:)
Congratulations on your iPod win.
Lucky you!
i meant every word! as for anonymous “paul robinson” how does cowardly fit? i have stated my opinion like it or lump it, hmmm freedom of speech we call it here. ps. read again, sounds like was the wording. you egg.
Ipod therfore I am…
hahaha paul robinson. i see you are a neighbours lover. i cant stand neighbours, ive stopped watching it sinse natalie bassingwaithe left. Stefan Dennis is also in a movie with jennifer love hewitt i think. hes got a small role in “the truth about love”. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407269/fullcredits
his name is in the producer section.
go me, good spotting
oh sorry i forgot, congrats on winning the ipod
Haha, “Yeah Right”, what a funny fellow. You make no sense at all but your attempts at talking are hilarious. Good on you.
Thanks everyone else - the iPod arrived at work today so I’ll surprise my wife by giving it to her in the next week or so.
Nook rules!
Glad to hear it arrived safely paulrobinson.
well done stupid! edit away, i have contacted leader newspaper.
I don’t understand what that has to do with anything, but you’re only embarrassing yourself now.
As for free speech, that was never under question. I allowed your comments through and replied to them - what part of that was an example of me prohibiting your free speech?
“Cowardly” fits because you’re not linking a Nook site to your comments, therefore you’re anonymous. Compared to you, my Nook site is not a mystery - so you know where to find me and continue leaving annoying messages. That’s the difference between us - you’re hiding behind a ‘nothing name’ while you know my Nook identity. That’s what i was talking about when I called your anonymous comment cowardly. And it is. I have nothing to hide but you appear to simply be grumpy for not winning an iPod. How immature.
Perhaps English isn’t your first language. That would certainly explain the continually confusing statements you’re making, such as this one: “ps. read again, sounds like was the wording.”
?? What does that mean? No wonder it’s so hard to understand what you’re going on about.
Okay - enough is enough. There is no logic in picking on paulrobinson for being lucky enough to be one of the first five iPod nano winners.
For the record:
1: the nook member registered as paulrobinson does not work for Leader Newspapers;
2: he is not a “nook insider”;
3:
I have no record of “Yeah Right” contacting Leader Newspapers;[Uppdate: the nook Admin team now has an email and is investigating the matter]
4:
It is it certainly unclear why “Yeah Right” would think contacting Leader is necessary;[Uppdate: in light of fresh information, the nook Admin team is investigating the matter]and5: We’ve allowed the comments of “Yeah Right” through - in the interests of open discussion. But the nook Admin team will seriously consider blocking future comments
if this needless badgering persists.[Update] from all parties until the item is closed.[Close update](In short, “Yeah Right” please consider yourself on notice).[Uppdate: in light of fresh information, the nook Admin team is investigating the matter].Some people love to live in a world where they have to have some form of ’sensation’ around everything that happens. Go and have a look at reddwarfs comment on my page.

Well well,
Of all the nookers out there, you had to be one of those who won and IPOD! I guess I am not at all surprised.
“…Unquote
Yes, you are right reddwarf misspelled ‘an’ lol!
Alright, I’m back, people. I’ve had a very busy time at work recently and haven’t had a chance to post anything new here.
My wife greatly enjoyed her iPod (which I gave her on Valentine’s Day), and I have dealt with the above issue involving Admin and Yeah Right. It’s all sorted.
My apologies to Yeah Right for mistaking him/her for someone else when I thought they were mucking around. Once I realised that I didn’t actually know who they were, and that they were actually being serious in their wild accusations, I removed the edit I’d made to one of their comments. I’m big enough to apologise for altering their comment, but I have no idea why the victimisation of my Nook began in the first place - simply because I was lucky enough to win an iPod.
The green-eyed monster, I’d say. Anyway, enough of all that. Let’s move on with our lives.
Comment contained veiled threat and was removed by Nook owner.
Well, we can see who’s the bigger person.
I’ve edited your comment because of the threat it contained.
Thanks for moving on.
